ok. hopefully this will work from the main blogger site. anways, of course when you reallly want to post, the “page is not available” so i’ll stop being lazy and just come here if that’s the case in the future.

last night on Conan some comedian i guess was making fun of elvis’ “jailhouse rock”. he’d make the band sing a verse which the comic would then criticize. like “warden threw a party in the county jail” comedian: (heavily sarcastic): no, he didnt!
yeah, that one was funnier at the time, but this part of the song never occured to me:

Number forty-seven said to number three
“You’re the cutest jailbird I ever did see”
“I sure would be delighted with your company”
“Come on and do the Jailhouse Rock with me”
Let’s rock, everybody, let’s rock.

ok. think about this one. this is a men’s jail, not even coed. no women. “Your the cutest jailbird i ever did see” hmmmm….# 3, just dont drop the soap, man.

brief, brief entry here. cause i’m supposed to be working on my stupid presentation for tomorrow. but i need a break to just ramble.

well, by 2:40 tomorrow, i am hoping to prove that the characters and background of Historia de una Escalera represent the postwar (civil) of Spain in one way or another.

I think the coolest thing i found in my research is the metaphor of the stairway (la escalera). for one thing, it represents the immobility (inmovilidad)….[not sure if i had it right in english. lol] anyways, it represents the immobility of the oppresive posguerra situation in Spain, after Franco took over.

yeah, really exciting. well, ,better finish so i can go to bed soon.

eh… i almost hate to write now, b/c i know that one post will have to be sacrificed. but i’ll fix that eventually so people can read my posts about my trip to spain.

in the meantime…. i saw Frida last night. If you dont know, Frida Kahlo is a famous Mexican artist, and this movie is Salma Hayek’s project. I really loved the movie. it was funny, charming.. .. and salma did a wonderful job of bringing this artist to life. she must have been such an interesting person.

I also really need to get the soundtrack. I saw this with Karli, and there was one point during the movie where i swear this old man was singing “soy como chile verde….picante pero sabroso…” and when both of us picked up on the chorus, we couldnt stop laughing. this may or may have not intentionally been funny, but i just cant imagine someone singing about being like green salsa or chile. i wish i could remeber the lyrics more accurately. but the music was great. they had great actors… very verosímil in my opinion. i cant think of how to say that in english right now.

wow. so my post really was lost. i wrote a long one yesterday… and i refreshed the page as i usually do to see it. dorky, maybe…. but i thought maybe it just wont refresh… and i couldnt get the add a post to work, but that happens sometimes… that it’s not available (blogger).

oh well. it’s not like it was anything really important. nothing exciting has happened to me, although josh has a different story to tell. poor guy was stuck in Paris without being able to communicate past the very basics (greetings, numbers, my name is), and his roommate never knew any french at all past “oui.”

i’m still a little pissed that i spoke to the desk staff in french and they corrected me in British English! come on. but… i asked someone in my class what would be a nice way to ask for josh’s room, ,and that seemed to work. perhaps i was a little too direct/nervous to be understood well. but then again, they repeated whta i had said in french, back in english. Parisians are so snotty.

But i have to say i really miss the crepes. those were awesome! i had a really good spinach one, ,and the another day had a dessert one… chocolate with bananas. words cannot describe.

ok. going to stop now before i write my heart out again, and it gets lost,.. again. honestly it’s no biggie b/c it’s not like i lost anything important yesterday.

time for me to hit the sack…

i’m getting a little better at this now.. i mean posting more often.

ok.. and so now i have nothing really to talk about. heh. as i was telling someone earlier, josh really did get an offer for this domain name. i told him to hold out until he got a good offer, but the person didnt write back again.
i am lucky to have gotten this. cause i’m sure almost anythign else yellowsub or yellowsubmarine is taken.

it reminds me of something on saturday night live from a few years back. where the only only name left was… well something i maybe shouldnt post. i’ts not bad, but not appropriate. lol no bad words, promise.

what else…. well, not much now that the semester is almost over. not looking forward to doing 3 more presentations. although, the one in linguistics i did last tuesday went well. i cant believe i went for 30 mins and had to leave out a little b/c we were pressed for time. but this one was in english, so i felt soo confident. amazing how doing things in spanish will give me english confidence.

i was watching VH-1 the other day, and they were doing a special on celebrity weddings, and it was so weird when they got to Paul’s. because they pointed out that Ringo was the only former beatle in attendance, or something like that. and it just hit me again that there’re only 2 of them left now!
they are going to put out George’s last album, that he was working on right before he died. it’s going to be so weird one day when there are no more Beatles left.

well, i’m goign to leave with that. i read an email once that Paul should re-release “When I”m 64″ in a few years. that would be great if he actually did something lol.

Ok. about time to write again, except i have no bargains to brag about. what i did realize just a minute ago, is that i need more links here. and not just to cool sites people should check out.

I want to do what josh did and make a small page about myself. hm.. is that grammatically correct. i swear since i’ve been immersing myself in spanish that my english grammar/spelling has slipped a bit.
Ok. so what i want to do is make a small bio page with my favorites and dislikes. Maybe this is just too ambitious for a very busy grad student with no free time.

But it seemed like a nice idea. Josh is in London right now. i’m very jealous, one, because they’re like an hour away from Abbey Road and dont give a crap. :) i dont care how many people attempt to do this, but i want a picture of myself walking across that famous crosswalk. one day…..

And also i want to go to Europe with Josh. I know he wants us to go to countries that the other hasnt been to, ,but we have to go to Italy together. just have to. especially Venice. i think i was the only person i know who didnt think it smelled, but it was so incredibly romantic. i was single at the time, but couldnt help but think that i’d have to come back with someone i loved very much.

Maybe josh is right. it is easier to get a lot more out on here as opposed to the hand-written journal. but journals (the book variety) are so personal….pretty if you’re into that…. I got him a very nice leather one for his trip, but he already hates it. :( I didnt think it would be a hard task to write in it. and now he has to cause i bought it for him.

But it looks and smells so nice! how could you not want to just write? wait–that’s an idea. i hate writing papers and stuff, so maybe i should get an essay journal. hmm. but i like having lots of paper space for essays, ,so i guess it wouldnt really work.

speaking of, have to get back to it…. the daily grind i call literature. :p
